Privacy Policy

Testnet Prototype
Norn is currently running on the Tempo testnet. This privacy policy covers our testnet prototype. Policies may change as we move toward production.
Overview
We believe in being transparent about data. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what's publicly visible on the blockchain.
The short version: we collect minimal data, we don't sell it, and your private keys never touch our servers.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Wallet address — Your public blockchain address, used to identify your account
- Username — The name you claim on the Norn Registry (stored on-chain)
- Profile details — Optional display name and avatar you choose to set
Transaction Data
- Payment amounts and messages (stored on-chain and in our database)
- Sender and recipient addresses
- Transaction timestamps
Feedback & Support
- Feature requests and bug reports you submit
- Optional contact information (name, email) if you provide it
What We Don't Collect
- Private keys — Never. Your keys stay on your device or wallet.
- Passkey credentials — Stored securely on your device, not our servers.
- Personal identification — No KYC, no ID verification, no personal details required.
- Tracking cookies — We don't use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Blockchain Transparency
Norn is built on a public blockchain. This means certain information is inherently public and visible to anyone:
- Your wallet address and username
- All transactions you send or receive
- Payment amounts and messages
- When transactions occurred
This is a feature of blockchain technology, not something we control. Think of it like a public ledger — transparent by design.
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and operate the Norn service
- Display your profile and transaction history
- Resolve usernames to wallet addresses
- Respond to feedback and support requests
- Improve the service based on usage patterns
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't use it to build profiles for targeting.
Data Storage
Your data is stored in a few places:
- Tempo blockchain — Usernames, transactions (permanent, public)
- Our database — Profile info, transaction records, feature requests
- Your device — Passkey credentials, wallet private keys
Since this is a testnet prototype, data may be reset or cleared as we develop the service.
Your Rights
You can:
- Update your profile information at any time
- Request deletion of off-chain data (profile, feedback submissions)
- Stop using the service at any time
Note: On-chain data (username registration, transactions) cannot be deleted due to the nature of blockchain technology.
Changes to This Policy
As Norn evolves from testnet to production, this privacy policy may change. We'll update the "last updated" date when changes are made.
